In the Studio

I'm working on a wall mounted desk in Wenge. This one will only be birchply and veneer. I've been improving my techniques for applying and finishing a veneer on the inside of a curve. In the past, I've always used plastic laminate on concave surfaces, but I've been trying to get away from using plastics in my work.

Not only will this reduce the amount of plastics I consume in production, but it makes recycling of the wood waste much less complex. Once plastic is glued to wood, it can't go into the wood waste stream, so it has to be laboriously de-laminated, or simply disposed of in a landfill.
